MY TAKE: The Best Thing to do Concerning the Coronavirus

MY TAKE: The Best Thing to do Concerning the Coronavirus

I have been having a little extra time the last few days (as many of you have) that I have been using for study, prayer, and meditation upon the Word.  God has been speaking to my heart about what to do about the Coronavirus.  I see many churches that are giving food to kids for lunch; others giving care packages to seniors; and others encouraging their members to go out and give a message of hope.

While these things are fine, I think America & the world needs a more direct message.  Many have been calling for prayer at this time and while that is good, it is missing a key ingredient.  Prayer does very little without being accompanied by REPENTANCE!.

Our Believers and Churches need to repent.  We have been going the wrong way for a long time.  People are farther from God than any other time in our history in America and it is the fault of churches and Believers who are living in carnality.  Our churches are bigger than ever, but we are farther away from God than ever.

We have lost our reverence for God.

We have lost our zeal for the Lord.

We have lost our compassion for the lost.

We have been enamored by the world and desire to identify with it much more than a holy life.

We are guilty for pushing an entertainment type of philosophy in our churches – wanting to be liked and respected by the world far too much (most pastors are guilty here).  God never called us to be liked – He called us to Light & Salt.

  • Light hurts the eyes of those in darkness – so we have adapted our churches to not be so “Bright” with our light, but to be more accommodating.
  • Salt has a healing effect, but it is uncomfortable and even hurts when applied.  Sugar never heals anything.  So today, we are guilty in our churches of seeking to have “Sensitive Preaching” rather than “Salty Preaching.”

What our nation needs is the church to have a real holy revival.  We need to REPENT!  The greatest need of the hour is that churches would repent and draw closer to God than ever before.  May we use this time to give Him full control.  May we repent of our sins, confess them, and forsake them.

I praise God for prayer. I’m glad that we have a President who calls for it.  But we need to add repentance to the biblical equation for deliverance for our land.  Each person, each church and even our nation needs to turn away from sin and back to God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
